Supported Self Help
for Young People

Supported Self Help for Young People is an early intervention service to support mental wellbeing as soon as a person needs it; giving young people the skills to understand, protect and improve their mental health.

This service is for young people who attend Monmouth Comprehensive School.

The programme begins with a 40-minute introduction session, taking place in school time, to discuss what support the young person needs. If both the young person and the practitioner feel the program is suitable, they will then have a further five 20-minute sessions using evidence-based tools and resources to develop a wellbeing toolkit together.

This programme has been developed with young people and their trusted adults.  It addresses many common emerging challenges young people face such as:

  • Loss

  • Anger

  • Fight, fright or freeze

  • Low mood

  • Self esteem

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Worrying and unhelpful thinking

  • Five ways to wellbeing

  • Positive self-talk

  • Mindfulness

  • Being assertive

  • Sleeping well

If this is something you’re interested in exploring, please contact us for more information  or contact a member of the Wellbeing Support Team at Monmouth Comprehensive School.

In both cases please mention that you are interested in the Supported Self Help service from Mind Monmouthshire.
